Marian Medical Centre Hospital was stated in 1973 under the management of Franciscan Clarist Congregation, Alphonsa Province, in the Diocese of Pala. It is registered as a Charitable Society on 12th June 1980 under the Reg.No. K. 286 according to the 12th Registration Act of 1955 the Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific Charitable Societies Act, and registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. History of MMC This incredible journey has started with a single step taken by the visionary sisters of Franciscan Clarist congrigation in the year 1960, when there was no hospital facility available for the common people in this locality . It was a humble beginning in Feb. 2nd 1973 , when the Bishop of Pala Rt. Rev. Dr. Sebastian Vayalil Blessed. And Dr. Mathew Varghese the District Medical officer inaugurated the first hospital block. Since then it has been a triumphant journey based on moral values and firm be live in almighty God's grace. Sr. Pious was appointed as the first administrator and Sr. Mary Rose as the Nursing Superintendent. With God's special grace new quarters for the Doctors and a Chapel for the spiritual betterment for patients and staff respectively. Msgr. Filip Valiyil was appointed as first Chaplain . The following year in 1974 we were surprised but honoured and blessed with a visit by the mother of destitute "Mother Teresa" at the premises of MMC. Paediatric Department was opened in 1976 and Coronary Care unit during the following year and Orthopaedic department start functioning from the year 1979. MMC's growth was tremendous due to the unconditional support we received from the public at large together with the hard work and dedication by the sisters and staff to provide an advanced and better healthcare based on human values and spread the greatest commandment of God the father on earth"love one other " School of Nursing was opened in 1983 and Sr. Ancinia as the first principal . As a recognition to our commitment towards the Mother 'N' Child department "Baby Friendly Hospital " award was conferred to this institution by Kerala Govt. To add a feather to our cap a blood bank was opened in the year 1996 and the Blood component segregation was started in 2014. Since the beginning of MMC Pala has reached to the day to day life of people from all segments and with the continue grace of God, we were able to celebrate the Silver Jubilee during the year 1998. To commemorate with the silver jubilee a new block named 'St. Joseph Destitute' was opened and start functioning to serve the terminally ill and the destitute free until death. In 2008 a new unit of I.C.C.U, and Alphonsa Cardiology block was opened while celebrating the silver jubilee of our Nursing school. New package for Health checkup was introduced during the same year. In the year of 2011, Cath Lab started functioning with facilities for Angeogram, Angeoplasty, Temporary and Permanent Pacemaker. Furthermore additional facilities for Bronchoscopy and Audiogram were also introduced in 2012. With sustained patronage of our patients from various life are our confidence to face the new challenges ahead and today we are capable to provide total health care and thus achieving greater milestones in the years ahead.
